“We are what we repeatedly do” Aristotle Habits are extremely important. There are behavioral habits as well as habits of mind. In order to invite your brain to be more creative and open minded here is a tip to do for a day, a week, or a month: Deliberately program changes into your daily routines.

Think about the things you do by habit.

Find the reason behind it and the goal for doing it.

Once you have defined it, make a conscious change for a day…

  • listen to different radio station
  • change working hours
  • Turn off your TV
  • Meet someone new

Be as creative as possible, it allows your brain to connect pathways differently and triggers creativity and open mindedness.

Enjoy!

Edu1st Blog - Benjamin Zander

Our brain uses different areas to integrate external stimulus. Images become concepts, ideas and emotions, then we create connections. Making thinking visible helps on understanding and learning. The mind maps engage our brains to better define problems and to look for creative solutions. Watch this video, helps to understand the concept.

As long as we get Minds On - Hands On in a topic, we have ownership of it and the story stays for ever with us. The connections come with the process and the “aha” moments it brings with it.

As told in the TED video recommended here, accompanying that knowledge with images and mind maps helps to create meaning and understanding. This is the ultimate goal we should be looking for: Understanding to be able to apply that knowledge in different contexts!!!!

Great Video to Watch!
